Bio

Fern Morey, 80, of Waco, passed away on Wednesday, June 4, 2008. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, June 9, 2008, at Emerald Hills Cemetery in Kennedale, Texas. Visitation with the family will be held in Waco on Sunday, June 8 from 4 to 6 p.m. at OakCrest Funeral Home. Fern was born in Galena, Kansas, to the late Iva (Keys) and Alford Ford. Her first marriage was to A.K. Waldrop on July 1, 1945 in Arkansas. Her second marriage was in 1964 to John Morey in Kansas. Fern's favorite flowers were tulips and lilies, and lavender was her favorite color. She enjoyed gardening, completing picture puzzles, hand sewing, reading the Bible and spending time with her family members and her pet rat terrier. Babies and young children brought her great joy. For several years during the mid 1980's, Fern led praise and worship services for a mission in Missouri. She loved to sing Amazing Grace and How Great Thou Art, both her favorite hymns. Family members describe Fern as being tenacious, kind-hearted and reserved. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Fern; her husbands, A.K. Waldrop and John Morey; sister, Margie, brother, Jack and her first-born granddaughter, Galoria. Fern is survived by her daughters, Annie Waldrop, of Waco and Mary Waldrop, of Abilene; son, Billy Waldrop, of San Antonio; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters, Alline Cheek, of Dallas, Louise Sharp, of Colorado and Helen Hudson, of Oklahoma; brother, Bill Ford, of Wisconsin; many other family members; and a host of friends.
