JOHN HOWARD MOREY (February 15, 1930 ~ December 22, 1973) 15 February 1930 - 22 December 1973 [Estimated Age at Death: 43 years, 10 months] *** John H. Morey GALENA, Kan. — John H. Morey , 43, Kansas City, Mo., former Galena resident, died at 1:40 a.m. Saturday at North Kansas City Memorial Hospital, after a short illness. Mr. Morey was born Feb. 15, 1930, at Galena. He had lived here most of his life, before moving to Kansas City eight years ago. He married Fern Ford April 24,1965, at Columbus. He was a machine operator for Certain Teed Saint Gobain Insulators Corp., Kansas City. He was a veteran of the Korean War. Surviving in addition to the wife are a daughter, Mrs. Annie Bandy, Arlington, Tex.; five brothers, Tom Morey, Larry Morey, Huachuca, Ariz., Gary Morey, Guam, Richard Morey, Huntsville, Ala., and Billy Morey, Seattle, Wash.; two sisters, Mrs. Hazel Boudreaux, Oxnard, Calif., and Mrs. May McCarthy, San Leandro, Calif.; and three grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Derfelt Funeral Home. The Rev. Ernest Watson will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Joplin Globe, Sunday, December 23, 1973, Pg. 4D. 32 of 42. He married Fern Ford Waldrop, daughter of Alfred and Iva Keyes Ford. He had not been previously married and had no known children, but he did have Fern's daughter, and grandchildren. Johnny was a decorated US Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict, Bronze Star and purple heart. His 5 brothers were/are also veterans. ~*~ *~* Cherokee Co. KS.
