With heavy hearts, we would like to announce the passing of our lovely mother, Josephine Frances Zmolek. She took her last breath on Thursday, June 6th, 2024 at Ridgecrest Nursing home in Forney, Texas. She was born in West, Texas on March 2, 1924 to Joseph and Agnes Nors. In her early 20's, she moved to Dallas, Texas and worked as a nanny. On the weekends, she loved going to the Czech dance halls in Ennis where she met her husband-to-be, Frank Zmolek. Josephine and Frank married on January 20th, 1947. She and Frank lived in south Oak Cliff an area of Dallas where they started their family of 7 children. In 1969, they moved to Forney, Texas. Shortly after, they moved into their new home built by Frank and his brothers on FM 740 and McMahon Road. Frank tended to his vegetable garden and fruit trees while Josie tended to the flower beds around the house. That was their passion. She is preceded in death by her parents, 6 sisters, 2 brothers, her husband Frank, and sons David, Donald and Gregory. She is survived by her daughters Patricia Steen (Johnny) of Forney and Catherine Ellis (Fairley) of Wills Point, her sons, Gary Zmolek of Forney, and ex daughter-in-law Nesi Zmolek of Forney, Timothy Zmolek (Sherrie) of Springdale, Arkansas. Also survived by Gregory's wife, Connie Giddens of Sanger, Texas. She was blessed with 13 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 5 great, great grandchildren, whom she loved more than life. Also many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis with Rosary at 7 p.m. Mass of the Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at 10 a.m. in the St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church of Ennis with Father John Dick as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
