Bio

Monica R. King, 56, of Ross, passed away Monday morning, May 26, 2008 at Providence Healthcare Center in Waco. A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 3:00 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with the Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Monica Rose was born in Waco, Texas, to the late John and Mary Anastasia (Jaska) King. She attended school in Ross and graduated from West High School in 1970. Monica worked for Stuckey's Pecan Shop, J. L. Enloe Truck Stop, and was co-owner and operator of Ross Store for several years. She also worked at West Community Hospital where she received her licensed vocational nursing degree, A. Jackson Home Health in Waco, and was currently an opthalmalic and surgical assistant for Waco Eye Associates, where she worked for over 25 years. Monica loved camping and the outdoors. She also enjoyed gambling, "sheeting", gardening, playing 42, and tending to the cows. She was a former volunteer for the West Ambulance Association and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. She is preceded in death by a sister, Terry (King) Walker , who died on August 22, 2006. Survivors include sons, Jeremy Veselka and his wife, Alli, of Corinth, and Jeffery Veselka and his wife, April, of Arlington; daughter, Melissa Veselka, of West; brothers, John King, Jr. and wife, LaDonna, of Whitney and Sam King and wife, Elaine, of Lacy Lakeview; sisters, Mary Ruth Dudik and Roberta Gerik and husband, Brice, all of West, JoAnn Kreder and husband, Gary, of Ross, Martha Stalkfleet and husband, Brad, of Ft. Worth, Cecilia Kuklies and husband, Robert, of Lake Jackson, and Edith Kubala and husband, Mark, of West; grandchildren, Colton, Scott, and Jacob; her special friend and companion, Tommy Janek, of West; the father of her children, Donnie Veselka, of West; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
