Bio

Minnie was born in Cool Townland, Co. Kerry, Ireland to Thomas Barry and Johanna Scanlan. She was baptized on Dec. 16, 1866, in Ballanvohir Parish. She immigrated to the United States in 1878. Minnie was married to Peter Martin on Jan. 22, 1890, in Omaha, Nebraska, and they had two children. After his death, Minnie was married to Patrick Joseph Hassett on May 11, 1897, at St. Agnes Catholic Church in South Omaha, Nebraska, and they had six children. Patrick also had five children from a previous marriage, of which only one had survived to adulthood. -------------------------------------------- HASSETT—Mrs. Mary, age 53, survived by five daughters, Mrs. William M. [Marie] McSmith, Mrs. Roy [Catherine] Mahoney, Mrs. John [Hannah] Shubert, Mrs. Arthur [Helen] Lawver, Mrs. Fred [Margaret] Smith [Schmidt]; two sons, Patrick and Thomas; one sister, Mrs. Edward Downing, all of Omaha. Funeral Wednesday from the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Arthur Lawver, 6230 S. 37th St., at 8:30 a.m.; St. Mary's Church at 9 a.m. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery. -obituary
