Marie was born in Leon, Iowa to Peter Martin and Marie "Minnie" Barry. Marie was married to William Frederick McSmith on Feb. 24, 1914, in Omaha, Nebraska, and they had five children. -------------------------------------------- MCSMITH -Mrs. Marie, age 58 years, 3919 S. 28th St., July 21, 1951. Survived by daughters, Mrs. James E. Collins, Mrs. Richard [Marie] Gaube; brothers, Thomas and Patrick Hasset [sic]; sisters, Mrs. Margaret Schmidt, Mrs. Frank [Hannah] Pospichal [sic], Mrs. Roy [Catherine] Mahoney, Mrs. Arthur F. [Helen] Lawver; 5 grandchildren. Funeral Wednesday 8:30 a.m. from Brewer-Korisko Chapel to St. Mary's Church 9 a.m. Committal St. Mary's Cemetery. Rosary at Chapel Tuesday 8:15 p.m. -obituary, Omaha World-Herald (July 24, 1951)
