Son of George Washington & Alpha (Waters) Duckworth Cobb. Married Cleo Leona Endicott 24 Jan 1943 in Topeka, Kansas. Doyle retired in 1973 from McDonnell Douglas in Santa Monica, California. 3 children: Stanley George Duckworth Alpha Carol Duckworth (died in infancy) Vernon D. Duckworth (died in infancy) ---------- News of Our Men and Women in Uniform S/Sgt. Doyle D. Duckworth, a former Coweta man, received his discharge from the Army Air Forces on September 5, 1945 at Fort McArthur, California. He entered service on June 3, 1941 and took his first training at Moffett Field, California, He volunteered for aerial gunnery school in September 1942 when stationed at Santa Ana, California as a cook. His combat training was taken at Las Vegas, Nevada, Tucson, Arizona, Alamogardo, New Mexico and Topeka, Kansas. S/Sgt. Duckworth left for duty in the South and Southwest Pacific in March 1943. He completed 39 missions with the 13th Air Force. He is the holder of the Good Conduct Medal, Air Medal with six oak leaf clusters, five battle stars and the Purple Heart. He landed in San Francisco 13 months from the time he left, and there he received a 30-day furlough. He then reported to the Santa Monica Redistribution Station where he received re-assignment to Lemoor Field, Cal. as a technical instructor. He was sent from there to March Field, Cal. as a heavy equipment operator. Doyle, with his wife, Cleo, and eight months old son, Stanley George, lives near Lindsay, Cal.
