Rev. Speir GILMER - Funeral services for the Rev. J.E. "Ed" Speir, 86, of Gilmer are set for 2:30 p.m. Thursday in Loyd Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. E.F. Cheshire officating. Burial will be in Morris Cemetery. Mr. Speir died Tuesday at a Gilmer convalescent center after a long illness. Born in Fairburn, Ga., he lived in Upshur County 79 years. He was a retired Baptist preacher. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Odis Speir of Gilmer; one daughter, Mrs. Mildred Earley of Fort Worth; one brother, John Speir of Gilmer; three sisters, Miss Addie Speir and Mrs. Crystal Price, both of Shreveport, and Mrs. Callie Oliver of Dallas; and four grandchilddren.
