Mary Lou Janicek, 87, of Burwell, Nebraska died September 8, 2023 at the Community Memorial Health Center in Burwell. A graveside service will be 9:00 a.m. Monday, September 11, 2023 at Cottonwood Cemetery in Burwell, Nebraska. Pastor JB Sikes will officiate. There will be no visitation. Mary Lou was born May 11, 1936 in Valley County near Elyria, Nebraska to Joseph "Pep" and Opal (Errington) Kuklish. Mary Lou married George Janicek on April 25, 1965 in Ord, Nebraska. They lived in Elyria until moving to the family farm west of Burwell. Mary Lou enjoyed baking Kolaches, gardening, cooking, playing cards, polka music, and going to coffee. She was a member of the First Christian Church and the Legion Auxiliary. Mary Lou is survived by two daughters; Brenda and Randy Skarka of Grand Island, Nebraska and Linda Finney of Burwell, Nebraska. Four grandchildren, Colby Skarka, MacKenzie Skarka, Keithan Coufal and Courtney Coufal. Three bonus grandchildren, Katie Gastelum, Kyle Finney, and Greg Finney. Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son-in-law, Dave Finney, one sister, Jeanne as an infant, three brothers, twins Keith and Kenneth Kuklish and Perry Kuklish.
