Fire Ends Life of Jean Etta Kuklish Thursday Morning Elyria Girl Fatally Burned Laid to Rest at Ord on Her Sixth Birthday. A grim tragedy, which cost the life of Jean Etta Kuklish, the youngest child of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Kuklish, happened in their home at Elyria last Wednesday morning when fire, the cause of which cannot be determined enveloped the little girl in flames. Mrs. Kuklish was in the same room with the child, who was apparently busy writing as a few moments before she had asked how to spell her father's and mother's names. The mother heard the child scream and turned her head to see her daughter in a mass of flames. Mrs. Kuklish succeeded in extinguishing the fire and called neighbors who brought the child to the Ord hospital. The little girl was beyond medical help and all aid extended in behalf was of no avail. Death relieved the little one of her suffering Thursday morning. Jean Etta was born June 15, 1940 at Elyria. She made many friends during her brief years on earth who are deeply grieved by the untimely ending of her life. Last year she attended school in District 33 and completed both the beginner's course and the first grade. She was industrious and studious by nature and was anxious to accomplish any task set before her. The Hastings-Pearson funeral chapel was filled Saturday afternoon with relatives and neighbors, their hearts heavy with sorrow, who came to attend the last rites for their little friend. Word of comfort were spoken by the Rev. K. E. Harris. The little form was laid to rest in the Graceland section of the Ord cemetery with Shirley and Delores Nelson, Dommie and Matilda Paprocki, Lorene Welniak and Marcella Steffan bearing the casket. Jean Etta would have been six years old on the day of her funeral rites. The Kuklishes have another daughter, Mary Lou, and three sons, Keith, Kenneth and Perry. Two grandmothers, Mrs. Emil Kuklish of Elyria and Mrs. Emma Hansen of Ord, as well as many other relatives and friends have an aching void in their hearts for the friendly little girl.
