Thanks to contributor #47226369 Published in the Ord Quiz, Ord, Nebraska, Thursday, July 19, 2007 George Janicek Burwell Resident, 64 George Janicek, 64, of Burwell, NE died Monday July 9, 2007 at the Valley County Health System Hospital in Ord, NE. Funeral services were held at 10:30 am on Thurs., July 12 at the First Christian Church in Burwell with burial in the Cottonwood Cemetery. George was born Oct. 8, 1942 in Burwell to Frank and Bessie (VanCura) Janicek Jr. He graduated from Burwell High School in 1960. He then worked at the post office until he started farming. On Apr. 25, 1965, he married Mary Lou Kuklish at the Ord Christian Church. They lived on the family farm that was established in 1903. The couple worked side by side on the farm until 1985 when his health forced him to rent out the land. He then received his broker's license and sold real estate with Ron Shonka. Survivors include his wife of Burwell; two daughters and a son-in-law, Brenda and Randy Skarka of Grand Island and Linda Coufal of Omaha; four grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Leonard and June Janicek of Burwell. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Alvin and a sister, Laverna Simpson.
