Bio

Edwin Harris, 80, Virginia Hill, died in a local hospital at 11:20 P M Tuesday. Born in Bell County, Mr. Harris had been a resident of Henderson County for the last 64 years. He taught school for 17 years and was a rural mall carrier here from 1905 until 1935. He was a memeber of the Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 3 P M from Memory Chapel with Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home directing. Rev. John Meadow will conduct. Burial will be in the Davis Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be J B Lewis, Ray Paulk, Clyde Holder, Maynard Massengale, Robert Brown, and Stokes Reed. Honorary pallbearers will be both active and retired post office emoployee here in Athens. Mr. Harris was the son of David Bushrod and Rosella Nelson Harris. Mr. Harris married Mattie Evaleah "Leah" Frizzell on Sept. 26, 1896. Survivors include a son, Moral Harris of Athens; two daughters, Mrs. Perry Harris of Athens and Mrs. J S Fannin of Dallas; one brother, J F Harris of Athens; and two grandchildren.
