Bio

Funeral services were held Saturday at 4 PM at Memory Chapel for John Franklin Harris, 80, who died Friday morning at 9:25 at the home of a daughter. Mrs. J. S. Reed, 226 South Palestine, after a lengthy illness. The services were conducted by the Rev. Lee Ramsour, pastor of the First Baptist Church and interment was in the Davis Cemetery. The Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Harris, who was born in Bell County October 1, 1873, had made his home in Henderson County for the past 67 years, the first two years at Malakoff. He had resided in the Pine Grove Community the greater part of the time. He retired from farming several years ago and had resided since then at the home of Mrs. Reed. He had been a member of the Baptist Church sunce he was a young man. Survivors are one son, J. F. Harris, Jr., of Springfield; four daughters, Mrs. W. S. Reed of Galveston, Mrs. J. S. Reed of Athens, Mrs. R. L. Brown of Alice and Mrs. D. L. Sanders of Texas City, and thirteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
