Bio

Gravesides services for Celeste Harris, 95, Athens, are scheduled for 11 AM Wednesday at the Davis Cemetery with Dr. Phelps officiating. Arrangements are with Forster & Brown Funeral Home. Mrs. Harris died Monday at Park Highland Nursing Home after a long illness. She was born May 12, 1897, in Henderson county to Edwin and Mattie Evadla Harris. She was a member of Virginia Hills Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Perry Harris, on April 16, 1976 and a granddaughter, Joan Gary on Feb. 22, 1974. She was a seamstress for J C Penny. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Alton Gary of Athens; a granddaughter, Jan Gary of Big Springs; a sister Lela ed Fannin of Mesquite; and a number of nephews and nieces.
