Bio

Funeral services were held at the Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home in Athens at 10:30 Friday morning for William S. Harris, 74, former post office employee in Athens and a veteran East Texas educator. Interment followed at the Davis Cemetery. Mr. Harris succumbed in Dallas Thursday morning at 10 am. He had made his home in that city with two of his daughters, Miss Rosabel Harris and Mrs. Gracie Crumpler. He was born in Ord Larissa, Cherokee County, on August 9, 1867. For over 30 years he taught in the public schools of Henderson County and others. Survivors inclue three daughters, Mrs. E. A. Henry, Ralls; Mrs. Gracie Crumpler, Dallas; Miss Rosabel Harris, Dallas: two brothers Edwin and Frank Harris both of Athens; one grandchild Carroll Crumpler, Jr., Dallas.
