Services for Mildred Boyer, 95, of Elkhart, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church of Elkhart with Bro. Bill Gernenz officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories under the direction of Bailey and Foster Funeral Home Palestine. Mrs. Boyer died Tuesday Mar. 11, 2008 at Cartmell Home for Aged. She was born April 2, 1912 in Wood County, to the late Romney Cleveland and Maggie Lou Laney Griffith. Mrs. Boyer was a member of the First Baptist Church of Elkhart, Order of the Eastern Star No. 395 of Palestine and Pilgrim Homemakers Club in Elkhart. She graduated from Palestine High School in 1931. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Russell Boyer; brothers, Earl and Albert Griffith; sisters, Hazel Hamby, Faye Honeycutt, and Christine Dancer. She is survived by one sister, Dorothy Gentry of Palestine and several nieces and nephews, James Hamby, Susie Blackmon, Barbara Dancer Tidwell, Eddie Dancer, Sherry Shirley, Milton Griffith, Gilbert Griffith, Rayburn Griffith, Sue Griffith, Cindy Griffith, Bobby Griffith, Kenneth Honeycutt, Darrel Gentry, Mike Gentry, and Kim Gentry Rinderkinect. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Elkhart. Published in the Herald-Press from 3/13/2008 - 3/14/2008.
