Services for Hazel Griffith Hamby, 93, of Palestine will be at 3 p.m. today in the Bailey & Foster Chapel with the Rev. Donnie Howard and the Rev. Bill Gernenz officiating. Burial will follow in Ferguson Cemetery under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home, Palestine. Mrs. Hamby died Thursday, August 16, 2007, at Palestine Regional Medical Center. She was born June 10, 1914 in Camp County to R.C. and Maggie Laney Griffith. Mrs. Hamby was a homemaker. She was a member of the Pilgrim's Home Demonstration Club. Mrs. Hamby was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jessie Hamby, in 1999; sons, Charles Richard Hamby, Ricky Hamby and Gary Hamby; sisters, Faye Honeycutt and Christine Dancer; brothers, Earl Griffith and Albert Griffith; and a grandson, Michael Allen Hamby. She is survived by her daughter, Susie Blackmon and husband Craig Caldwell of Rusk; son, James Hamby of Elkhart; sisters, Mildred Boyer and Dorothy Gentry, both of Palestine; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Billy Hamby, Gary Hamby, Rusty Hamby, Scott Blackmon, Pat Blackmon, Scott Frazier, Jason Ives and James Eckard Hamby. (Palestine Herald-Press Aug 18, 2007)
