ATHENS WEEKLY REVIEW 31 MAY 1923, 69-70 J.H. Hogue, who lives on the Tom Faulk farm between Baxter and New York makes it his business each year to bring the Review the biggest vegetables grown in the county. A year ago when farmers were bringing so-called big cabbages to the Review, Hogue stepped in and put a quietous on the contest by bringing in a cabbage head that tipped the scales at 26 pounds. For the past week onion growers have been exhibiting their products to the Review but Houge brought in one that beats them all. And along with it he brought a sample turnip that weighs about two pounds and is just as firm and as sweet as they grow. Off a quarter acre he has already sold $15.00 worth of turnips besides supplying the neighborhood. Mr. Hogue is one farmer that believes in living at home. He raises plenty of feed and last year sold considerable corn and still has plenty left to do him through the year.
