Dale was more Nov 23, 1914 in Hamilton, TX to Windsor and Ina Lacewell. His early childhood was spent near Tulia, TX until the family moved to Deaf Smith County after buying a dryland farm. He helped on the farm until he left to attend college in western Oklahoma where he worked at the college dairy and at a local care. From there he joined the CCC during the depression and worked on government sponsored projects in the vicinity of Lubbock, TX. On Jan 1, 1939 he married Maysel Fay Terrell in Plainview, TX. After working around her home area in Dumas, they purchased a farm in the Irick Community of Floyd County where they lived from 1945-1963, then they moved to Plainview. They farmed land in Floyd and Hale counties. Dale retired in 1980 and concentrated on his love of golf; he continued to play into his late 80's. After Maysel died in 1998, he was remarried to "Flossie" (Lota Evelyn Newton Lacewell) who died in 2003.
