Graveside services for Ruddene Crowley will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the Old Bellview Mitchell Cemetery in Bellview, NM. Ruddene was born at Indian Gap in Hamilton County, TX, on July 11, 1920, and passed away peacefully to her heavenly home on Sunday, February 17, 2013 at the age of 92. Her immediate family survivors are her children, Glynes Foster of Albuquerque, NM, Novita (and Buck) Nix of Granbury, TX, and Byron (and Penny) Pulliam of Grand Junction, CO. Other survivors include her brother, Windsor Lacewell, Jr., her grandchildren, Doug Foster, Sherri Foster Johnson, Becky Kromann Johnson, Barry Kromann, Tracey Nix, Cari Pulliam Diehl, and Kim PulliamVecchio, along with their spouses and ten great-grandchildren. Ruddene was preceded in death by Glen Pulliam, who passed away in 1988, and her second husband, Joe Crowley, in 1998. Also preceding her in death were her parents, Windsor Lacewell, Sr., and Ina Rudd Lacewell, her siblings, Inez Terrell, D. Boone Lacewell, Dale Lacewell, Rorex Lacewell, Billie Frances Vaughn Parton, and Mardee Grissom Wood, and a grandson, Douglas Pulliam. Ruddene graduated from Bellview High School where she participated in sports and all activities. She married Glen Pulliam in 1940. They owned and worked a dry land farm in northern Curry County for 48 years where they also operated a dairy and raised cattle. They moved to Farwell, TX in 1988; and Ruddene remained there until 2010 when she moved to Granbury, TX, to reside in an assisted living facility. She later moved to a nursing home in Granbury. In addition to working on the farm, Ruddene worked in the Rosedale and Grady Schools' lunchrooms for many years during the 50's and 60's and was proud to say she had served meals to all the children of those communities. She later worked 18 years as a survey supervisor with the US Department of Agriculture--a job she enjoyed tremendously--until she retired to take care of Glen. Ruddene was active in her church and community, especially with the Old Timers Reunion every year. She will be remembered for her friendly outgoing personality, her commitment to hard work, and her devotion to family and friends. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Steed-Todd Funeral Home and Crematory, 800 E Manana Blvd., Clovis, New Mexico (575) 763-5541.
