Bio

Edwin John Kana, 80, of Bay City died December 7, 2003 at the Methodist Hospital in Houston. He was born June 6, 1923 in Holman, Texas to the late Joseph and Amelia Kristik Kana. Mr. Kana was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and a resident of Bay City since 1946. He was a retired air conditioning contractor, a veteran of WW II serving in the US Navy, a life member of Philip H. Parker VFW Post # 2438, and a member of the Knights of Columbus Bay City Council # 3070. Survivors include: daughter and son-in-law, Annette and Jerry Harryman of Houston; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Michael Kana of Houston and Mark and Mary Ellen Kana of Dallas; sisters, Georgian Pilgrim of San Antonio and Dorothy Oliver of Miami, Florida; brother, Ivan Kana of Rosenberg; three grandchildren, Gerald Harryman and wife Mary of Pearland, Nicole Harper and husband Arlon of League City, and Madeline Elsie Kana of Dallas; and two great grandchildren, Pierce and Chase Harper both of League City. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elsie Kana and his second wife, Minnie Lynn Kana; sisters, Martha Mozch and Mary Bartosh; and brothers, Charlie and Jerome Kana. Rosary was held 7 p.m. Tuesday, December 9, 2003, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home and the funeral mass is 10 a.m., Wednesday at Holy Cross Catholic Church with the Rev. Casey Jarzombek officiating. Interment will follow at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery in Blessing. Pallbearers are Dennis Bartosh, George Knebel, Jay Harryman, Steve Carson, Lawrence Bartosh, and David Bartosh. Memorials may be made to Holy Cross School Scholarship, 2001 Katy, Bay City, TX 77414. Arrangements are with Taylor Bros. Funeral Home.
