Bio
Mary Kana Bartosh of Blessing, Texas passed away on Jan. 2, 2001 at the age of 86. She was born on March 17, 1914 and was a homemaker. She attended St. Peter Catholic Church in Blessing and was a member of the St. Peter's Altar Society and the KJZT Society. She is survived by: daughters, Joan Karasek of East Bernard and Mary Ann Brandl of El Campo; sons, Edward Bartosh of El Campo, Lawrence Bartosh of Blessing, Dennis Bartosh of Palacios, and David Bartosh of Blessing; sisters, Georgie Pilgrim of San Antonio, Martha Mazoch of Baytown, and Dorothy Oliver of Miami, Fl.; brothers, Ivan Kana of Midfield and Edwin Kana of Bay City; 19 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Kana and Amalie Kristek Kana; husband, William "Bill" Bartosh who died in 1951; and brothers Charlie and Jerome Kana. Visitation will begin on Thursday at Triska Funeral Home from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. The body will lie in state at St. Peter Catholic Church in Blessing at 6 p.m. Thursday. A parish rosary will follow in the church at 7 p.m. The funeral mass will be Friday at 2 p.m. in St. Peter Catholic Church with the Rev. Samuel Appiasi officiating. Interment will follow at the St. Peter Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Triska Funeral Home. Pallbearers will include; Gene Karasek, Jr., Philip Karasek, Jim Bartosh, James Allen Bartosh, Tim Cerny, Sean Kelly. Honorary pallbearers include David Kemp and Barry Bartosh. Memorials may be sent to Friends of Elder Citizens, Inc. P. O. Box 791, Palacios Texas 77465. Triska Funeral Home is in charge of all the arrangements.
