Hugh Edward Chesnutt was born 22 November 1868 in Tennessee, the 2nd of 4 children born to James Henry Chesnutt (1843-1908) and Sarah Sopshire Phillips (1845-1918). Siblings: Mary Ella Chesnutt [Fuqua] (1866-1942), John Stephan Chesnutt (1875-1952) and Maude Emma Chesnut [Norman] (1880-1947). He married Margaret Gray Trigg (1877-1965) on 12 December 1899 in Amarillo, Texas. They were the parents of Grace Chesnutt (1900-1914) and Hugh Edward Chesnutt Jr. 1911-2001. Hugh passed away 17 Jun 1923 in Amarillo, Potter, Texas and was buried 18 Jun 1923 in the Llano Cemetery in Amarillo, Texas. Name: H. E.
