Born the son of Stephen Glynn Carroll (1841 - 1897) and Susan Celia Bullard Carroll (1844 - 1901), he married about 1902 to Cora E. Kennimer (1887 - 1917). Their children were Thurman Carroll (1903 -), James Aurthur Carroll (1905 - ), Cecil Carroll (1907 - ), Christine Carroll (1908 - ), Ruby Fay Carroll (1910 - ), and Vallree Carroll (1917 - ).
