Bio

"Tony" Anton J. Kvetensky, 84, of Grand Island, passed away on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, with his family at his side. Service and celebration of Anton's life will be 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at All Faiths Funeral Home with military honors provided by the US Army and Grand Island Veterans Honor Guard. Daniel Naranjo will officiate. Tony was born on November 17, 1937, on a farm west of Ord, NE the son of Ladislav and Martha (Janicek) Kvetensky. He was raised on a farm, graduating from Ord High School, class of 1954. On June 29, 1957, he was united in marriage to Mary Morrow. This union was blessed with children Steven and Sonya. Tony served in the U.S. Army from August 1, 1961, to August 30, 1963. Tony worked for Baxter's Feed Lot before beginning his career with Northwestern Public Service. He retired following 27 years of service. He was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. Proud of his Czech heritage, Tony, his siblings and a sister-in-law traveled to Czechoslovakia in August of 1981 and found their father's home. Tony always planned a summer family trip to the places such as, Michigan, Colorado, California and to where he was stationed while in the service, New Mexico. Summers were also spent with friends camping across Nebraska. In past years, he and Mary were members of several bowling leagues, and enjoyed polka dancing. He was an avid gardener, enjoyed playing horseshoes, and attending the horse races, at both Ak-Sar-Ben and Fonner. Most of his spare time was spent playing cards. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant sister, Marie Ann; brothers, Laddie and Joseph and sister, Martha Fryzek.
