Joseph M. Kvetensky, 80 of Cedar Rapids, NE died Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011, at the Veterans Medical Center in Grand Island, NE. Joseph Marion Kvetensky was born on September 13, 1931, on the family farm west of Ord, NE to Ladislav and Martha (Janicek) Kvetensky. Joe attended grade school at dist. 29 west of Ord and graduated from Ord High School in 1948. Joe was a member of the United States Army and served time in Korea. Joe married Mary Ann Dierks on September 6, 1958 in Omaha, NE and to this union a daughter, Pamela Susan, was born. They divorced in 1966. On October 27, 1967 Joe wed Isabelle I. Hufford. This marriage ended in divorce. He worked for over 30 years for Mobil Oil Co. Joe was a 50+ year member of ZCBJ Lodge Slavin 112 at National Hall and the Benson VFW #2503. Survivors include: a daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Kevin Toxword of Omaha, NE; grandson, Thomas of Omaha, NE; brother and sister-in-law, Anton and Mary Kvetensky of Grand Island, NE; sister-in-law Lillian Kvetensky of Ralston, NE; and numerous nieces and nephews. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Ladislav F. Kvetensky, and sisters, Marie Ann Kvetensky and Martha Fryzek. A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Roeder Mortuary, 2727 North 108th St. Omaha, NE. Rev. James Hardy officiated with accordion music provided by Don Trouba.
