Bio

Mary Elizabeth Kvetensky, age 85, of Grand Island, passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at the Country House Residence surrounded by her loving family. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 3rd at 10:30am at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church with Father Jeffrey Nelson officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior. Interment will take place at the Grand Island City Cemetery. Mary was born on July 2, 1939 to John and Monica (Wray) Morrow in the foothills of Scotia in the family's sod home. She was raised in Scotia and attended North Loup High School graduating in 1956. On June 29, 1957, she was united in marriage to Anton "Tony" James Kvetensky. To this union two children were born. Mary was employed in the postal department at Burke Pharmacy and then Wanek Pharmacy. She was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. In her spare time, she liked to bowl, garden and was an avid reader. Mary and Tony enjoyed playing cards and going to polka dances. Over the years she collected many angels, coffee mugs and roosters. Those left to cherish Mary's memory include her son, Steven (Tabatha) Kvetensky of Towanda, Kansas; daughter, Sonya (Mike) Wooden of Grand Island; grandchildren, Karla, Tyler and Blakeley; great grandchildren, Walker, Grayson, Stella and Mateo; brothers, Dan (Peggy) Morrow of Ashton, NE and Robert (Judy) Morrow of Norfolk; sister, Joanne Reents of Fremont and sister in-law, Sheryl Morrow of St. Libory. Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Tony; parents and siblings, Jack, Jerry, Larry, Patricia and James.
