Bio
Funeral services for Earl Walter Martin, age 78, of sulphur Springs, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 21, 2007, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Ray Crumpton and Rev. Fred Lewis will officiate. Millitary Graveside rites by the Hopkins County Millitary Coalition will follow services in Restlawn Memorial Park. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 6:oo to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 20, 2007, at the funeral home. Mr. Martin passed away on Monday morning, November 19, 2007, at his residence. He was born in Hopkins County, on May 15, 1929, the son of Gilbert N. and Lilly Dale Henley Martin. He married Virgina Ruth Hart, at Rockwall, on March 15, 1953. She survives. Mr. Martin was a retired dairyman and bus driver for SSISD. He was a member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Other survivors include: three daughters, Sandra Hurley and husband Tommy of Sulphur Springs, Becky Potts and husband Brad of Emory, and Debbie Temples and husband Steve of Sulphur Springs; two sons, Ronnie Martin and wife Misty and Donnie Martin and wife Katie, all of Sulphur Springs; a sister, Mary Ann Carrell of Longview; grandchildren, Sara and David Walker, Scotty and Darla Reed, Martha Kate and Bobby Peckham, Joey and Michelle Martin, Crystal and Joe Scott, Don and Lori Martin, Amber Temples, Kay Temples, Amanda Potts, Aaron Potts, Tommy Hurley, Jr., Crystal Berry, Jason Hurley, Jeremy Hurley, Josh Hurley, and Shelley Schwartz; and 28 great-grandchildren. Mr. Martin was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Martin; a sister, Erma Faye Lyle; four brothers, Jack Martin, J.A. Martin, Merle Martin, and Frankie Martin; and a nephew, Lloyd Carrell. Arrangements are with Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
