The Franklin News-Herald - Friday, April 24, 1936 William J. Schoonover, 62, of 207 West Front Street, Oil City, died at 6:15 p.m. Thursday in Oil City Hospital after a prolonged illness. He had suffered a stroke last November and had never fully recovered. Mr. Schoonover was a blacksmith by trade. He had been a resident of Oil City for a number of years, coming from Fryburg, where he had lived for many years. Mr. Schoonover is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Lavina Schill Schoonover; four sons, James, Joseph, Orville and Edwin Schoonover; and two daughters, Marie Schoonover and Mrs. Arthur Hopwood, all of Oil City. He is further survived by 18 grandchildren; three brothers, James Schoonover, of Aurora, Nebraska, Lee Schoonover, of Stockholm. Washington, and Clyde Schoonover, of Idaho; and one sister, Mrs. J. E. Ogg, also of Idaho. Death certificate gives age as 62 years, 9 months and 26 days. Son of Isaac Schoonover & unknown. Wife was informant. Buried April 27, 1936.
