The Franklin News-Herald - Wednesday, November 15, 1967 Mrs. John A. (Eldelene) Hopwood, 66, of 251 Washington Avenue, Oil City, and mother of a priest, died at 9:05 a.m. today in Oil City Hospital following a short illness. She had been admitted to the hospital on October 31. Born in Fryburg, on December 2, 1900, she was the daughter of the late William and Mary Lavina Schill Schoonover. She attended the schools of St. Joseph Parish and also Welch's Business College. She was united in marriage to John A. Hopwood, on November 17, 1921, in the cathedral in Buffalo, New York. Mrs. Hopwood had been a resident of Siverly for 27 years until she moved to her Washington Avenue address one month ago. Besides her husband, Mrs. Hopwood is survived by the following children, Mrs. William (Rita) York, of Rouseville, Arthur J. Hopwood, of Oil City, Father Robert Hopwood, of South America, Mrs. John (Marihelen) Egan, of Franklin, William Hopwood, of Rye, New York, James Hopwood, of Livermore, California, Donald Hopwood, of Warren, Richard Hopwood, of Erie, Ronald E. Hopwood, of California, John Hopwood, of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Paul Hopwood, of California. Also surviving is a brother, Orville Schoonover, of Oil City. A brother, James Schoonover, died on October 12, 1967, a sister, Mrs. Marie Talley, also died this year, and another brother, Edwin, died in 1966. Friends will be received any time after 2 p.m. Thursday in Joseph Reinsel Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday. Rosary Society will meet at 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home for a recitation of the rosary. Requiem High Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday in Our Lady Help of Christians Church. Rev. Robert Hopwood, son of the deceased, will be celebrant. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
