Obituary from Palacios Beacon 3-26-25 issue Royce Wayne Brune, 77 of Wharton, was called home by the Lord on March 6, 2025. Royce was born April 15, 1947 in El Campo to the late Edmund and Mary Brune. He graduated from Palacios High School in 1966 and served four years in the Air Force as an Air Force Medical Service Specialist. He was a loving Dad and an awesome Papaw to his grandchildren he loved so much. Kyndal, Taylor, J.R., Thomas and wife of Weimar and one great granddaughter. He is survived by his wife Patti, sons Juston (Brooke) and Jason of Wharton; sisters Joyce Brune Hunter, Mary Ann Brune Brown, and Debbie Brune Williams; sisters-in-law Bobbie Brune, Joann Brune of Palacios, Larri Lin Smith Armand of Louisiana, and brother-in-law Aillen and wife of San Antonio. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Sharon Brune Dean; brothers Kenneth, Jack, Michael and Sonny; nephew Kyle Weed; brothers-in-law Trammel Hunter, Ralph Brown and Rick Williams. Royce will be missed by his family and friends. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Royce passed away peacefully at 8:30 PM March 6, 2025 at the Houston Hospice Hospital in Houston, TX. He is survived by his wife Patti E. Brune; sons: Jason L. & Juston Royce (Brooke) Brune & several grandchildren, all in the Wharton area. Royce was a 1966 Graduate of Palacios High School and a proud member of the 1964 Sharks State Championship Football Team. Royce was voted "Most Handsome Boy" for the Class of 1966. Royce was in the Air Force during the Vietnam War years and worked as a gauger for many years. Preceding him in death are his parents Edmund & Mary Dolezal Brune; siblings, Laverne (Sonny) Brune, Kenneth Brune, Sharon Brune Dean, Jack Brune, and Michael Brune; nephew Kyle Weed; brothers-in-law Trammel Hunter, Ralph Brown & Rick Williams. He is also survived by his sisters Joyce Brune Hunter, Mary Ann Brune Brown & Debbie Brune Weed Williams, all of Palacios; sisters-in-law Bobbie Brune, Joann Brune, Larri Lin Smith Armand of Louisiana, and brother-in-law Lawrence Cullen Smith, III and wife of San Antonio.
