OBITUARY: Palestine (TX) Herald-Press, Thursday, 2 April 1992: Dorothy Sue Pierce BOIS D'ARC—Services for Dorothy Sue Pierce, 77, of the Bradford Community, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Bois d'Arc Baptist Church with the Revs. Jack Mills and Michael Drinkard officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery under the direction of Boren-Conner Funeral Home of Jacksonville. Mrs. Pierce died Wednesday at Villa Inn Nursing Center after a brief illness. She was born June 28, 1914, in Rosenberg, to John Wilson Rodgers and Nancy Jane Woodard. Mrs. Pierce had lived in Anderson County since 1950, and was a member of Bois d'Arc Baptist Church and the Montalba chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a retired waitress for the Spanish Trace Inn in Athens. Mrs. Pierce was preceded in death by a son, David Lee Pierce, in 1951. She is survived by her husband, Lester Pierce of the Bradford Community; sons, John Thomas Pierce of Duxbury, Mass., and Roger Carl Pierce of the Bradford Community; daughters, Rebecca Pishney of Blue Rapids, Kan., and Addie Ward of the Bradford Community, nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Bobby Costlow, Maurice Costlow, Harold Johnson, Mark Mills, Gary Hilton, Dewey Pierce, Orr Costlow and Shelton Costlow.
