UNION COUNTY ~ Joyce Elizabeth Shepperd Norton, 80, died at 9:15 p.m. Thursday, March 2, 2001, at home. Services will be at 7 p.m. today, March 6, 2001, in Woodburn Congregational Church, with the Rev. Leroy Fahnestock officiating. Burial will be in alto Pass Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the church. Memorials may be made to the Charles Heinemeier Memorial Scholarship Fund, in care of Citizens Bank, Bunker Hill, or Woodburn Congregational Youth Group. Mrs. Norton worked for Olin corp. for 14 years, retiring in 1978. She was a member of Woodburn Congregational Church. She was born Jan. 2, 1921, in Nebraska to the late Ben and Kathryne (Herren) Shepperd. She married Donald E. Norton Sr. on May 28, 1947, in Jonesboro. He died Feb. 3, 1987. Survivors include four daughters and sons-in-law, Lorraine and Poncho Picard of Kenner, La., Babette and George Moorleghen of Belleville, Ria and Andrew Heinemeier of Bunker Hill and Lisa and David Reedy of Bauxite, Ark.; three sons and daughters-in-law, David and Vicki Norton of South Roxana, Dennis and Linda Norton of Aledo and Donald E. Norton Jr. and Diane of Springfield; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three sisters and brothers-in-law, Irene and Russell Dockhorn and Bessie and Eldon Halinsky, all of Ord, Neb., and Grace and George Hruby of Comstock, Neb. Her husband, infant son, Donevan, and one brother, Clayton Shepperd, preceded her in death. Landers Funeral Home in Bunker Hill is in charge of arrangements.
