''''''''''''''''' The Sioux City Journal (Sioux City, Iowa), October 3, 1947, p. 20, col. 5-8 Shavlik Funeral Is Held at Gregory, S.D. Gregory, S.D. – Special: Funeral services were held at the Methodist church here for Frank J. A. Shavilk, 64, who died at his home west of Dallas after a long illness. Rev. A. A. Eastwood of Colome conducted services. Interment was in the Z. C. B. J. cemetery southwest of Gregory. Mr. Shavlik was born at Linwood, Neb., January 22, 1883. He spent his early life as a lumberjack and assistant to a mining engineer at Hibbing, Minn. He came to Gregory county in 1910 and on May 13, 1913, he was married to Miss Katherine Dobesh at Fairfax, S. D. They lived on a farm northeast of Gregory until three years ago when he retired because of ill health and moved to a small acreage west of Dallas. Survivors include his widow; three sons, Steve of Sioux Falls, S.D.; Archie of New Ulm, Minn., and Joe at Gregory; two daughters, Miss Evelyn Shavlik of Washington, D.C., and Miss Darlene at home; his mother, Apolene Shavlik of Cham Neb.; a brother, eight sisters five grandsons.
