Daughter of Frank and Anna Krska. Married Joseph Shavlik on September 10, 1878 at Fremont, Nebr. by a County Judge. '''''''''''''''' The Elgin Review, January 13, 1949, p. 1, col. 5 & 6 Mrs. Jos. Shavlik Passes Away at Her Home in Elgin on Monday Funeral Services Today at St. Boniface Church. Born June 24, 1858, Sedlac, Moravia, Bohemia Apolina (Krska) Shavlik was born in Sedlac, Moravia, Bohemia on June 24, 1858, and passed away at the age of 90 years 6 months and 16 days. She came to this country with her parents when eighteen years old and settled in Cedar Hill, Nebr., where she lived until she met Joseph Shavlik to whom she was united in marriage on Sept. 10, 1878. To this union 15 children were born. Mr. and Mrs. Shavlik made their home in Linwood, Nebraska until 1915 at which time they moved to a ranch south of Ewing, where they lived until 1928. They then moved to Elgin, which has since been the family home. Mrs. Shavlik is preceded in death by her husband and five children, Mr. Shavlik having passed away in 1933. The surviving children are: Barbara Talbot, Rose Marcan and Betty Sweeney of Omaha; John Shavlik and Helen Shavlik of Denver, Colo.; Mary Pavel of North Bend; Anna Shavlik of Ewing, Emma Shavlik of Elgin, Steve Shavlik of Chambers and Steffie Reinke of Neligh. She also leaves in her passing 35 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Thursday (today) from St. Boniface church at 10:00. Burial was made in St. Boniface cemetery. Rev. Fr. T. H. Buelt was in charge of the services.
