Georgia Elizabeth Hejny, 87, passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 2020, in her home on the farm in Telico. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Georgia was born on December 1, 1932, in Ennis, Texas, to the late Frank G. and Elizabeth "Betty" (Blazek) Marusak. She grew up in Ennis and graduated from St. John High School in 1947. On June 30, 1951, Georgia married Jerry L. Hejny and they made their home in Dallas before moving to Telico in 1959. In her younger years, Georgia worked for Southwestern Life Insurance Company. Following this, she was a seamstress and made many wedding gowns and bridesmaid dresses for the community. But according to Georgia, the best years of her life were when she and her sister, Rosie, professionally installed wallpaper in homes all over Ennis and in the surrounding area. They may have hung the wallpaper in your home during their 20-year run! Georgia was a member of the Damascus Road Fellowship Church in Ennis. She loved to tell people that her son was the pastor. She was a member of the KJZT and the SPJST. She and Jerry were very active in the Telico Volunteer Fire Department for many years. Selling raffle tickets for their annual fundraiser was a joy for her every year and it was her goal to sell the most. It gave her a chance to seek people out and have a visit, her favorite pastime! For many years she and Jerry farmed their acreage; she tended her large vegetable garden and loved taking care of their cows. Most recently though her enjoyment came from games and people. She looked forward to her Thursday afternoon Canasta group and kept her Rummikub game in the car just in case she went somewhere and someone had time to play. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; grandson, Dustin Hejny; three brothers; and three sisters. Survivors include her sons: Steve Hejny and his wife, Katie, James Hejny and his wife, Judi, Rick Hejny, John Hejny and his wife, Theresa, Glenn Hejny and his wife, Stacy; nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; brothers, John Marusak and Elick Marusak; sisters: Wilma Kapavik, Lillie Macalik, Margaret Martinek, Geri Green, and Frances Divin; brother and sisters-in-law: Johnny and Dorothy Vanek and Carol Hejny; many other relatives and numerous friends.
