Pastor Glenn Charles Hejny walked into Glory with his Savior on August 15, 2024. What a celebration and feast must be going on there. He married Stacy Perry Hejny on November 21, 1986…he loved to say she was the only girl he ever dated. They shared a blessed life that grew to include his sons Adam in 1987 and Andrew in 1992. In 2012, Adam married Haley Thedford Hejny, in which Glenn was honored to be the one who joined them in marriage. In 2017 the family was complete with the birth of his favorite grandson, Cole Hejny. Glenn did all things at 110% - racing cars at 85 Speedway (where he and Stacy were first introduced), dirt bike racing, competitive water-ski jumping; becoming a private pilot, master craftsman in woodworking and ultimately being called into pastoring. And of course, feeding people well – physically and spiritually – he fed all of those he knew. His most recent hobby was spending days fishing with his grandson Cole on Navarro Mills Lake where they caught tons of fish. Glenn was the co-owner of Hejny Contracting, Inc for over 30 years. He learned his woodworking skills from his uncles and brothers and started at the age of 12. Over the years he honed his skills and grew in knowledge of his craft to be one of the finest woodworkers in the state of Texas. His final earthly job was completed last week at the Wise County Courthouse. Over the past two years he had established himself in the Historic Courthouse renovation world and this had become the primary focus of his business. He gave his life to Jesus in his early 20s and loved serving in all different capacities at Tabernacle Baptist Church where his family attended church for 16 years. He loved the Men's Ministry there and loved telling the story of the "bus trip" to Chattanooga that was life-changing for many of the men, including Glenn. In August 2009 at Precept Ministries conference in Chattanooga Glenn felt called into pastoral ministry. In 2010 Glenn became a licensed minister through Independent Assemblies, ordained by Rev. Edwin Lipsey, and planted Damascus Road Fellowship Church, now known as The Road Church, in Ennis, TX. What a blessing to know many, many people have seen Jesus through Glenn as he married them, buried them, and baptized them on the streets of Ennis outside in a hot tub! He preached to them, hugged them, cooked for them, made them laugh (very corny jokes) and ultimately loved them well. Mostly and foremost, he did all of this through his love for Jesus. If you knew Glenn, you knew he loved Jesus! He is preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Georgia Marusak Hejny, his brother Rick Hejny, his sister-in-law Katie Hejny, his nephew Dustin Hejny and niece Julie Hejny. He will be loved and missed by all of those who knew him. Until we meet again… it's a short farewell. Visitation will be held Friday, August 23, 2024, from 6 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at The Road Church of Ennis. A Celebration of his life will held on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at 10 a.m. in Tabernacle Baptist Church of Ennis. Interment will follow in Rice Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
