Charles Appleman was born June 19, 1903 in Vernon County, Wisconsin, son of George Appleman & Mary Elizabeth Hughes. He died March 2, 1972 at Viroqua, Vernon County, and was buried in the Sugar Grove Cemetery, Vernon County, Wisconsin. His brother Emil is also buried in the family plot and they share a gravestone. *********************************************************** VERNON COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY OBITUARY ARTICLE: Charles Appleman Charles Appleman, 68, of Westby, died Thursday, March 2, 1972 in the Viroqua hospital. He was born June 9, 1903 in Vernon County to Mr. and Mrs. George Appleman. He never married. He had resided in the Old Vernon County Home for some time. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Victor (Edith) Wirtz of Madison, and one brother, Milford of California. He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters, and his parents. Services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 5, at the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church, Rev. B. J. Talledge officiating. Burial was in the Sugar Grove Cemetery.
