Bio

Eva Mae Huddleston of Palestine Texas, passed away on July 27, 2014, at the age of 85. Known by her loved ones as Sally, born in Anderson County on May 22, 1929 to Mollie Naomi Jones Hassell and John Ed Hassell. She grew up on the family farm about half way between Palestine and Rusk. She had 5 sisters and 5 brothers and was the first in her family to graduate from high school. She attended Slocum High School. Sally married William Clinton Huddleston on July 3, 1948 and was blessed with two children, Tommy and Carol Elaine. She devoted herself to the care of her family, and she was an accomplished homemaker and gardener; in particular, she relished tending her dogwoods and azaleas. Her pecan pies and cookies were celebrated treats. She enjoyed playing the casinos in Louisiana, and she was a savvy shopper having a knack for bargain hunting. Mrs. Huddleston attended First Baptist Church of Palestine. Survived by her husband, William Clinton Huddleston, her son, Tommy Huddleston, and his wife, Bette Lou Cook Polishak, her daughter, Carol Elaine Casey, and her husband, Clarence Wayne Casey; her grandchildren, Kathleen Kiernan Huddleston, Kelly Anne Rangel, James Thomas Huddleston, Terence Heath Casey, Jason Todd Casey, and Jessica Kathleen Riedinger; her great-grandchildren, Andrew Michael Rangel, Aiden James Rangel, Isabella Valentina Huddleston, Addison Pearl Casey, Maddox Heath Casey, Airah Ashlynn Casey, Ethan Christopher Riedinger, and Parker Alexander Riedinger. Passing only a month before great-granddaughter Eleanor Paige Rangel’s birth.
