Bio
Joyce Daphne King, 89, of Lake Jackson passed peacefully away with her children near her side. She was born in a small community outside of Palestine, Texas to Ed and Molly Hassell. She grew up on a cotton farm along with 11 other brothers and sisters. She married John Dale King of Neches, Texas July 1950 and they settled in Lake Jackson to raise their three children. She was preceded in death by her parents and ten of her siblings and her husband, John Dale King, whom she was married for 54 years. She is survived by three children; Dale Harvey King of Arlington, Debra King Overreach of Austin and John Timothy King of Lake Jackson; three grandchildren, William Brett Overreach, Drew Harvey Overreach and Katherine Priest King; and one sister, Patricia Starkes of El Paso and other extended family. She was a long time member of the Angleton Road Baptist Church of Christ- she was steadfast in her faith and she was always devoted to her family and friends. Graveside services will be at the Neches City Cemetery with Doug Rayner officiating. (Palestine Herald Press 8/14/15 pg 3)
