Decatur Herald 3/2001 Louis S. Ray,83 of Decatur died Wednesday March 21,2001 in Carle hospital, Urbana. Services will be 11 am Saturday in Dawson & Wikoff west wood street funeral home. Visitation will be 5 to 7 pm Friday with 7:30 Masonic services. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery. Mr.Ray was born June 26,1917 in Altamont,the son of Truman S. and Rena Mae Krohn Ray. He graduated from Decatur high school in June, 1936. He was a member of Central Christian church. He served in Signal Corps of the 3rd Army in Europe during WW II. He worked at Decatur Signal Depot for years. He retired as a maintenance supervisor from Caterpillar after 25 years. He was a director and active member of Caterpillar Junior Achievement,a member of Caterpillar Retirees club,American Legion Post 105, Moose Lodge,VFW Post of Decatur and a 50 years member of Stephen Decatur Masonic Lodge 979 AF&AM. He enjoyed golfing,dancing and fishing and helping others,family and friends. He married Helen L.Conley in January 1938. She preceded him in death. He married Vannis Bolin in October 1986. Surviving are his wife,daughters,Shelly Camfield and husband Terry of Oreana., Elizabeth Hughes and husband Jim of Georgia,Stepdaughter Sue Chenoweth and husband Donald of Hammond,stepson,James Boline and wife Laura of Michigan,brother Roland K.Ray and wife Grace of Decatur, sister Madeline Mae Helm of Grand Junction,Colorado. Grandchildren, Jimmie Hughes Jr and wife Nancy,Susan Orred and husband Matt of Georgia,Lynn Camfield and fiancee Michelle Wollington of Decatur Chelsea Camfield of Oreana,Ashley Bolin of Michigan, Great grandchildren Stacey and Kacey Orred of Georgia,Karlie Scherer of Colorado,Stepgrandchildren,Letitia Chenoweth of Bourbonnais,Rich Chenoweth of Atwood,Rob Chenoweth and wife Julie of Sullivan,Great stepgrandchildren ,Chelsey Cody,Kristin,Alexa and Jackson Chenoweth. He was preceded in death by his parents,first wife, daughter Caroline Sue and brother Willard E.ray. He had a real enjoyment for life and people and will be remembered by many.
