DECATUR HERALD AND REVIEW JULY 1980 Willard Eugene Ray, Sr., 66 of 3081 Chestnut Ave. died 6:10 pm Saturday July 19, 1980 in St. Marys hospital. Funeral services will be at 1 pm Tuesday in Dawson & Wikoff funeral home. Visitation will be after 5 pm Monday with 8 pm Masonic Services. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery. Mr.Ray was born in Effingham county,son of Truman and Rena Krohn Ray. He was a former county Purchasing agent with the County Purchasing Department(Macon) and was employed with Dawson & Wikoff funeral home. He also was the Manager of the Masonic Temple at one time. He held several offices in Macon Lodge No 8 A.F. & A. M., was a member of Macon Chapter 21 Royal Arch Masons,Decatur Council No 16 of Royal and Select Masters, Commandry No 9 Knights Templar,Scottish Rite consistory Valley of Springfield, Stephen Decatur No 797 A. F. & A. M., Great Light No 1064 A.F. & A. M.,Executive Committee of Mason Home Endowment,Decatur Chapter 111 of Order of Eastern star and was a member of the Central Christian church. He married Mildred Conley in 1938 in St.Louis,Mo. Surviving are his wife, daughter, Mrs.Donald(Janet) Donner of Decatur,Mother Rena Ray of Decatur,brother,Rolland and Louis S.Ray both of Decatur and sister Madeline Helm of Decatur and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Willard Eugene Ray, Jr and his father Truman Ray. Willard gave the Mason Rites at his sons funeral. Willard also played football at Decatur High school and was quite proud of it. Mason Records for Willard Decatur Herald Masons cite Willard Ray,Manager of the Decatur Masonic Temple will be awarded the York Cross of Honor and Membership in Illinois Priory 11 at 8 pm today during special ceremonies in Peoria. The York Cross of Honor is an Honorary Degree given for Outstanding service in the Masonary. Only those having completed 20 years of service and having been an officer in four different Masonic Bodies are eligible for the award. Ray qualified by being, Past Master, Macon Lodge 8,A. F. & A. M., Past High Priest, Macon Chapter 21., Ram Past thrice Illustrious Master,Decatur Council 16, R & SM Past Commander,Beaumanoir Commandery 9, KT. Other Decatur men who received the same honor are Harry L.Kline in 1945 and Emil A. Dobry in 1952. I put my fathers 5 generation picture in. The baby is my dad,holding him Truman Ray,father,Carrie Ray,Trumans mother,Samuel Wright Carries father,and Mildred Dazey,grandmother.
