Adam Turner is the son of Winslow Turner I and Elizabeth Turner. He met and married Letitia Hunter in Lincoln County, Missouri about 1832. They moved their family from Missouri to Texas around 1840. They are the parents of eleven children: John R., Elizabeth, James R., Margaret, Wiley David, Martha, Sarah Jane, William Houston, Aaron Lewis, Elijah, and Sophronia. Adam's father, Winslow Turner, died in Lincoln Co., Missouri and his will was probated there (Probate Court, June Term, 1825, Book A, p. 63), naming Elijah Collard and Joseph Cottle as executors. In his will, Winslow names his wife, Elizabeth; his "three youngest sons": Adam, Alford, Aaron; and other children: Winslow, Sally Cottle, Miles, Elias, Deborah Highsmith, Mary Robinson, Phebe Little and Mahala Turner.
