Winslow Turner I was born in Pembroke, Plymouth Co, MA to Joshua Turner III and Betty Bowker [Turner]. Winslow was married three times. First to Polly Bucar Broker, in 1782, then to Molly Sarah Standish,(the great-great-granddaughter of Myles Standish, who arrived on the Mayflower) on 31 March 1785 in Pembroke Co, MA, and third to Elizabeth Betty Cottle in 1806, in Lincoln Co, MO. The Turners and Winslow's were prestigious names in England. The Winslow's were descendants, (dating back to A.D. 500 to 1500) from Wincelowe, Esquire. The progenitor of the Turner family, was Humphrey Turner, a very successful and wealthy man. Winslow Turner Sr., was a descendant of a long line of Indian Scouts and Rangers. Winslow Turner left Plymouth Co, MA, in 1800 with his wife Molly their and four children, Winslow II 1786, Sarah (Sally)Turner [Cottle]1787, Elias Turner and Miles Turner. Molly Sarah Standish [Turner] died along the way. Winslow and his four babies finally reached the small settlement on the Femme Osage. When Daniel Boone arrived in 1800, he found a tiny French trading post, the name of wich was so hard to pronounce in English, that he change the name to St Charles and it became know as the District of St Charles, in upper Louisiana or New Spain. Daniel Boone became the Commandant of the District and trained his men to fight Indians. Under Boone Winslow became a noted scout and ranger, In fact these people experienced continuous Indian wars, that they never knew when one ended and another started. Winslow also served as a Marine aboard the Continental Frigate, "Deane", commanded by CAPT Samuel Nicholson, engaged February 6, 1782; service to May 31, 1782, 3 mos. 25 days;term,5 months",during the American Revolution.
