Thanks to contributor #48786212 Mrs. Elvina Hoarn Dies; Funeral Services Tuesday (September 22, 1952) Mrs. Elvina Hoarn, 74, long-time resident of Columbus, died at 7:45 a.m. Sunday at St. Mary’s hospital following a short illness. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday from the Gass Funeral Home chapel with burial in the Columbus cemetery. The Rev. Franklin E. Wales, pastor of the Federated church will officiate. Mrs. Hoarn, daughter of the late Henry W. and Betsey Gern Smith, was born in Schuyler on March 19, 1878. After receiving her education in Colfax County, she came to Columbus to work as a young girl and spent most of her life since that time. She married Arthur M. Bushnell in 1898, and to this union were born two sons, Arthur C. and his twin brother, the latter dying in infancy, and one daughter, now Mrs. Marguerite Kelley of Cheyenne, Wyoming. Mr. Bushnell was killed in an accident on Feb. 2, 1910. Her marriage to James J. Hoarn took place in Columbus in 1912, and he died April 7, 1944. Mrs. Hoarn was a member of the Federated church and was affiliated with Vashtoi Rebekah lodge, Royal Neighbors, Y Ladies, Sns Souchi club and Father Flanagan’s Mother’s club. She is survived by: one son, Arthur C. Bushnell, Columbus; her daughter Mrs. Margurite Kelley, Cheyenne; one sister, Mrs. Lena Pease, Columbus; one brother, Henry M. Smith, Columbus; and four grandchildren, Mrs. George Nicovich of Denver, Carolyn Kelley of Cheyenne, Dean Bushnell of Greeley, Colorado, and Richard Bushnell of Columbus. Besides her husbands and infant son, Mrs. Hoarn was preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph, Jake, and Charles Smith and four sisters, Mrs. Amanda Biles, Mrs. Lizzie Ernst, Mrs. Emma Brock and Mrs. Katie Haskins.
