Married Frank Sabatka on February 5, 1907 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Abie, Nebr. '''''''''''''''''' Onawa Democrat , October 25, 1984, p. 3, col. 8 Liddie Sabatka, Onawa, Iowa, passed away on October 16, 1984, at the Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa, Iowa. Death came at the age of 96 years, 11 months and six days. She was born November 10, 1887, at Abbie, Nebraska, in Butler County, to John and Mary Novotny Votova. On February 5, 1906, she was united in marriage to Frank Sabatka at Linnwood, Nebraska. He operated a grain elevator at Yanka, Nebraska. Later the couple settled on a farm near Valparaiso, Nebraska. In 1931, they moved to a farm east of Onawa and in 1946 they retired into Onawa. Mr. Sabatka died May 4, 1949. Liddie had resided in the vicinity of Onawa for the past 53 years. The last four years, she resided with her daughter and son-in-law, Blanche and Otto West. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church at Onawa, Iowa, and was an Honorary member of the Rosary society. Survivors include two sons, Frank, Jr. and Edward, both of Onawa; one daughter, Mrs. Otto (Blanche) West of Onawa; nine grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and one great, great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, Emil, seven brothers and five sisters. A Rosary was recited at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 18, 1984, at the Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa. A Funeral Mass was held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 19, 1984, at St. John's Catholic Church, Onawa, Iowa, with Father Donald Smith Mass Celebrant. The organist was Mrs. Robet Oehler and the soloist, David Hausman, sang, "Only A Shadow," "On Eagles Wings," and "How Great Thou Art." Casket bearers were David Hausman, Wayne Sabatka, Jerry Sabatka, James West, Larry Framke and Bill Rasmussen. Interment was in the Onawa Cemetery, Onawa, Iowa with arrangements by Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa.
