''''''''''''''' Butler County Press (David City, Nebr.), May 31, 1917, p. 5, col. 2 Edholm The community was shocked when they heard of the death of John Votava at the Fremont hospital Saturday afternoon, May 26. Mr. Votava had been in failing health for some time, but did not become seriously ill until Monday afternoon, May 21. He went to the Fremont hospital for treatment Wednesday, May 23. He was the second son of Mr. and Mrs. John Votava. He was born October 8, 1884. On October 18, 1910, he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Lebeda, of Linwood. To them was born a daughter, Libbie. He leaves a wife, a daughter, father, mother, six sisters and five brothers. The sisters and brothers are Mrs. John Hyney of Kansas, Mrs. Frank Sobotka, Mrs. Joseph Buresh and Mrs. John Dworak of Valparaiso, Mrs. Frank Ratkovec of Prague, Frank of Edholm, Vincent of Valparaiso, Peter, Anton, Joseph and Blanche at home. All were present at the funeral except Mrs. Hyney who could not come on account of sickness. Funeral services were held in the Abie Catholic church Tuesday morning. Interment was in the Abie cemetery.
