Betty Mae Tomlin, 74, of Berlin, passed away at 4:55 a.m. on Sunday, May 5, 2019, at Lewis Memorial Christian Village. Betty was born on December 3, 1944, in Berlin, the daughter of Everett and Pearl Weger Cumby. She married James Tomlin, Sr. on June 16, 1962, in New Berlin, he preceded her in death in 1988. Betty was a homemaker and enjoyed watching her grandchildren race. She loved animals and spending time with her family. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two grandchildren, Brian Austin Tomlin and Ashley Tomlin; and brothers, Clarence Cumby, Everett “Zeb” Cumby, and James Cumby. She is survived by her sons, James (companion, Alicia Yancey) Tomlin, Jr. of Virden, Brian (wife, Laura) Tomlin of Athens, and Elvis (wife, Michelle)Tomlin of Thayer; five grandchildren, James Tomlin of Lowder, Brittany Tomlin of Jacksonville, Shane (wife, Laura) Tomlin of New Berlin, Amy Tomlin of Berlin and Jake Sturgeon of Athens; five great-grandchildren, Carter, Avery, Presley, Homer, and Ashley; two sisters, Ethel (husband, LeRoy) Bachman of Auburn and Patricia (late husband, William) Large of Murrayville; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at Butler Funeral Home-New Berlin, 714 East Gibson Street, New Berlin, IL. Funeral Ceremony: 11:00 a.m. on May 9, 2019, at Butler Funeral Home-New Berlin with Rev. Warren Brosi officiating. Burial will follow at Berlin Cemetery.
