Bio

Everett D. "Zeb" Cumby Sr., 65, of Berlin, died at 10:58 p.m. Sunday, May 27, 2012, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield. He was born Jan. 14, 1947, in Berlin, the son of Everett and Pearl Weger Cumby. He is survived by his children, Penny (Alan) Tankersley of Elijay, Ga., Rebecca (Lawrence) Hunter of Jacksonville, Everett (Michelle) Cumby Jr. of Jacksonville and Kendall and Shelby Cumby of Lewistown; siblings, James (Linda) Cumby of Springfield, Patricia (William) Large of Murrayville, Betty Tomlin of Berlin and Ethel (Leroy) Bachman of Auburn; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Clarence Cumby. He was a graduate of New Berlin High School and earned an associate degree in Accounting from Lincoln Land Community College. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He worked many years as a fertilizer applicator near Jacksonville. He enjoyed watching dirt track racing, a good joke, listening to country music and enjoyed fishing. Services were entrusted to McCullough-Delaney and Butler Funeral Home of New Berlin, Illinois.
