MRS. CARRIE E. RAY DIES AT AGE 90 AT DAUGHTERS HOME Mrs. Carrie E.Ray, 90, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Pearl DeVore, Monday. She had lived in Altamont since around 1904. She was the daughter of the late Samuel W. and Angela Wright, born in Shelby county,August 17, 1872. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Christopher Ray in 1932 and two children, Stanley Glen, in 1914 and Jay H in 1949. She is survived by five sons, True of Decatur,Dewey, St. Louis, Clifford, Altamont, Walton, Thornville, Ohio, Russell,Columbus Ohio, Two daughters, Mrs. Pearl DeVore and Myrle Ray both of Altamont. Brothers, James W. Wright of Sullivan, Earl, A. Wright of Norwood, N. Y., Homer W. Orlando Fla, sisters, Mrs. F. H. Finley, Marissa, Ill and Mrs. W. O. Potter, El Monte, Calif and also 16 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. The funeral services will be held at 2 pm Thursday at the First Methodist church with the Rev. Orlando Brakemeyer and Dr. Gehl Devore officiating. Burial will be Union cemetery. Gieseking funeral home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs.Ray was a member of the First Methodist church of Altamont and Order of Eastern Star. Decatur Herald and Review 8/1962 Mrs. Carrie Ray, 90, Altamont, died at 4:30 pm Monday in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Pearl Devore, Altamont. She leaves sons, True, Decatur, Dewey, St. Louis, Clifford, Altamont, Walton Thornville, Ohio, Russell,Columbus, Ohio, Daughters, Myrl Ray, and Pearl Devore, Altamont. Services Thursday in Methodist church, Altaont. Burial in Union cemetery, call after 6pm Tuesday, Gieseking funeral home in Altamont.
